We just did a pretty fun thing and made pages for all albums and songs in our discography. (We think. You get to our age and it gets a little foggy...)
The pages have YouTube videos and lyrics.
Check it out here.
The product is pretty much done but of course there's a fair number of songs here. If you see an issue, please feel free to email the band at band@dismembermentplan.com.
As time goes by we are going to add new features... this is kind of in beta. But it's a start. Suggestions at that email address are also welcome.
To make sure the lyrics are right I actually listened to our entire catalog in one go. I've never done this before, and if you know me, you know it hurt. I really don't like listening to myself. I imagine listening to oneself for 4 hours would be hard for Luther Vandross, and, well, I ain't no Luther Vandross.
Anyways, it went down in roughly backwards order. I hadn't listened to "!" in probably 18 years. I was laughing so hard during "The Small Stuff" that I had to stop. I had tears rolling down my face. We sounded completely deranged. We would make musical decisions I can only call "unsustainable" and then sustain them anyways. It's like watching a dog get a cardboard box stuck on its leg but continue to chase squirrels.
So what did I think? Um... besides being revolted at the sound of my own voice... for hours... I'd have to say that E&I is my favorite. It has by far our most welcoming songwriting, and the production and arrangements are great rock and roll. Change is my least favorite (although with a few truly great songs,) and the first two are scruffy and lovable. And we had some fantastic b-sides and comp tracks in the middle period! We could do a "Louder Than Bombs," but, like, much shorter, and not as good.
Also I can look anyone in the eye who claims there is no room for a fifth record by us and know with confidence that they kind of don't know what they're talking about. Lot of uncovered ground left.
Anyways, now you can finally know what I say in the bridge to "Ellen & Ben" LOL... hope it gives you a few good minutes of diverting browsing...
Thanks!
